POSITION SUMMARY
The Ski Patrol Dispatcher is the communication hub for all patrol operations, ensuring timely and accurate coordination of resources to support guest and employee safety. This position is responsible for managing radio and phone communications, logging incidents, tracking patrol personnel, and providing logistical support during daily operations and emergency responses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Monitor and operate resort radio channels, maintaining clear and professional communication at all times.
- Maintain calm, clear, and concise communication under high-stress situations.
- Receive and relay calls for service, emergencies, and operational needs to appropriate patrol personnel.
- Serve as the first point of contact for outside agencies (fire, EMS, police, search and rescue).
- Dispatch patrol teams to medical, evacuation, and rescue incidents.
- Log all incidents, responses, and communications in real time using dispatch software or paper logs.
- Maintain accurate tracking or personal and resources.
- Assist in preparing incident reports and ensuring all required documentation is complete.
- Coordinate with lift operations, grooming, snow making, and other departments for hazard management and mountain safety.
- Track trail openings/closures, weather conditions, and avalanche control operations.
- Support command staff during mass-casualty or complex incidents.
- Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess excellent public relations and communications skills as well as high level of friendliness
- Must handle stressful situations
- Proficiency with radios, phone systems, and basic computer applications required
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prioritize tasks effectively
- Calm demeanor and decision-making skills during emergencies
- Prior dispatch, emergency services, or ski patrol experience, preferred
- Knowledge of mountain operations and ski area terrain, preferred
- First Aid/CPR certification, preferred
- Adhere to all safety policies
- Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation's Service Excellence standards
