Journeyman Lineman

YVEA is hiring an experienced Journeyman Lineman to construct, maintain, and repair our transmission and distribution electrical system. This is a hands-on, safety-critical role for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in quality workmanship and reliable service to the communities we power.

• Build and maintain the transmission and distribution system - clearing right-of-way, digging pole and anchor holes, framing and setting poles and anchors, stringing and sagging conductors, and installing downguys
• Install and maintain underground equipment, cable, and specialty switches
• Install transformers, transformer banks, breakers, take-off assemblies, services, regulators, streetlights, meters, and lightning arresters on both energized and de-energized lines
• Maintain, test, and repair switching structures, substations, oil circuit breakers, oil circuit reclosers, sectionalizers, and transformers
• Patrol lines, read operations counters, and report conditions needing maintenance
• Perform voltage checks, load surveys, and load balancing
• Support meter technicians with C.T. and P.T. meter installations
• Respond to trouble calls on scheduled standby
• Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, and rubber goods in safe operating condition
• Complete required documentation - job briefings, staking sheets, switching orders, outage reports, and daily time/mileage logs
• Lead and oversee the performance and quality of work for crew members and apprentices

• Strong working knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems
• Experience with pole-line construction, underground equipment, and substation maintenance
• Ability to work safely on energized and de-energized lines
• Strong documentation and reporting habits
• Willingness to perform scheduled standby duty
• Leadership skills to guide crew members and apprentices
