Chief Financial Officer – ZAR 1.2 Million pa (negotiable)
Stellenbosch, CPT

Lead the finance function of a growing property development business. An established and expanding property development and investment group based in Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced, commercially minded Chief Financial Officer to join its executive leadership team.

This is an opportunity for a strategic finance leader who enjoys being closely involved in the commercial side of the business. The role offers exposure to property development projects, investment opportunities, funding negotiations, capital allocation decisions and long‑term growth planning.

Working alongside the executive team, the successful candidate will play a key role in shaping financial strategy, supporting investment decisions and ensuring the business remains well‑positioned for sustainable expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall financial management and reporting function of the business.
  • Deliver accurate and meaningful monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to support executive decision‑making.
  • Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives, development projects and investment opportunities.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes across the group.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Manage liquidity, working capital and cash flow requirements across multiple projects and business activities.
  • Oversee relationships with banks, lenders and funding partners, including negotiating facilities and securing development finance.
  • Evaluate funding structures and capital requirements for new developments, acquisitions and growth initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support investment analysis, project feasibility assessments and business expansion opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, taxation requirements and corporate governance standards.
  • Manage the external audit process and maintain strong relationships with professional advisors.
  • Provide oversight of intercompany transactions, funding arrangements and group financial structures.
  • Build and mentor a high‑performing finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • CA(SA) preferred, or an equivalent senior finance qualification.
  • Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role.
  • Strong background in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting and strategic financial management.
  • Experience with in property development, property investment, construction, manufacturing or a project‑based environment will be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with banks, lenders and external stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
  • Advanced financial modelling, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage at board and executive level.
