RUSSIAN Speaking & RUSSIAN Experience SENIOR LEGAL CONSULTANT – SHAREHOLDER AFFAIRS & INTERNATIONAL GOVERNANCE
Full-Time Consultancy | Remote (South Africa) with some travel to Stellenbosch H/O - The role is not suitable for candidates seeking a flexible, part-time, or secondary engagement.
My client headquartered in Stellenbosch has an outstanding opportunity available for a senior legal professional with experience working in Russia and or with Russian Jurisdictions and can speak Russian. An Admitted Attorney who thrives in complex, international environments and enjoys operating at shareholder and strategic level and commercially astute legal expert to lead shareholder affairs and governance across a multi-jurisdictional portfolio.
What you’ll be doingAdvise on shareholder matters including loans, guarantees, securities, restructures, disputes and exits
Provide strategic guidance on corporate governance and risk across multiple entities
Coordinate and manage international legal advisors and cross-border legal strategy
Draft and negotiate high-level legal documentation, including shareholder agreements, corporate resolutions and commercial contracts
Support litigation preparation and dispute strategy where required
Deliver clear, practical legal advice aligned with commercial outcomes
Full-time consultancy role (not flexible or part-time)
Consistent daily availability required
International liaison across time zones
What we’re looking for
- ESSENTIAL experience
Russian language skills AND Experience working in or with Russian jurisdictions (not neg)
Admitted Attorney (SA or equivalent common-law jurisdiction)
8-10+ years post-articles experience
Strong corporate and commercial law background with deep shareholder governance exposure
Advantageous:
Commercial property or property development exposureProven experience working across international jurisdictions
Confident operating independently at senior level and advising executives/shareholders
High discretion, sound judgment and strong commercial mindset
