Corporate Carbon Footprint Consultant required in Stellenbosch.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct corporate carbon footprint assessments, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions calculations in line with recognised sustainability standards.
  • Review, analyse, and validate client sustainability data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Manage and maintain Scope 3 emissions tools, methodologies, and emission factor databases.
  • Conduct product carbon footprint assessments and support lifecycle-based emissions modelling.
  • Prepare technical reports, emissions calculations, and sustainability insights for clients.
  • Support ESG reporting, sustainability disclosures, and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) submissions.
  • Coordinate sustainability consulting projects, ensuring timely delivery and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Conduct research on sustainability standards, carbon accounting methodologies, and emerging industry trends.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve sustainability tools, systems, and client solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and clients on sustainability-related matters.

Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture, Food Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability principles and carbon foot printing methodologies.
  • Experience with corporate carbon footprint (CCF) assessments and greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices within the food supply chain or agricultural sector will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of recognised sustainability frameworks and standards, including the GHG Protocol and Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), will be beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and project coordination skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present findings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • High attention to detail, strong initiative, and a passion for sustainability and continuous improvement.
