About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Ecologist to lead their Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) services in Stellenbosch . This role involves conducting ecological surveys, assessing the potential environmental impacts of development projects, and developing mitigation strategies to ensure regulatory compliance. You will play a key role in project management, client liaison, and mentoring junior environmental scientists. This position is crucial for supporting sustainable development initiatives within the Western Cape, requiring a deep understanding of local ecosystems and environmental legislation.

- Conduct comprehensive ecological field surveys , including flora and fauna assessments and habitat mapping.
- Prepare detailed Environmental Impact Assessment reports, including baseline studies and impact prediction.
- Develop and implement effective ecological mitigation and management plans.
- Liaise with clients, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders throughout the EIA process.
- Mentor and manage a team of junior ecologists and environmental scientists.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related biological science.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in conducting EIAs and ecological consulting.
- In-depth knowledge of South African biodiversity legislation and environmental policy.
- Demonstrated expertise in ecological survey techniques and data analysis.
- Excellent project management, report writing, and communication skills.
