About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to support their extensive energy projects in the Stellenbosch area and surrounding regions. This role is essential for ensuring that all project activities comply with environmental regulations and sustainability best practices. You will be responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and monitoring project sites to minimize ecological impact. This position requires a strong understanding of environmental science, regulatory frameworks, and the specific challenges associated with developing energy infrastructure.
You will work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and regulatory bodies to ensure responsible and sustainable development practices.
- Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for new and existing energy projects.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans and mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project sites for compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions.
- Collect and analyze environmental data, including water quality, air quality, and biodiversity.
- Prepare environmental reports, documentation, and permit applications for submission to regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with government agencies, stakeholders, and communities on environmental matters.
- Provide environmental training and awareness programs to project teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in environmental consulting or management, preferably within the energy sector .
- Knowledge of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
- Experience with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
