Geologist - Exploration

Our client is seeking a talented Geologist specializing in Exploration to join their team in Stellenbosch , operating under a hybrid model. This role is instrumental in identifying and evaluating new petroleum exploration opportunities. You will analyze geological data, interpret seismic surveys, and develop subsurface models to assess the potential for hydrocarbon discoveries. • Interpret geological and geophysical data, including seismic, well logs, and core samples.
• Develop and refine subsurface geological models for prospect identification and evaluation.
• Assess hydrocarbon potential, estimate resource volumes, and provide geological input for risk analysis.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and other specialists on exploration projects.
• Prepare geological reports, presentations, and maps for internal review and external partners.
• Stay abreast of the latest exploration technologies and methodologies.
• Participate in field visits and well site geology as required.

• Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in exploration geology , with a strong focus on the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Decision Space) and seismic interpretation tools.
• Demonstrated understanding of basin analysis, structural geology, and sedimentology.
• Experience with resource estimation and risk assessment techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
