Senior Geoscientist - Exploration

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Geoscientist with extensive experience in hydrocarbon exploration to join their team in Stellenbosch . This role is critical for identifying and evaluating potential new energy resources, utilizing advanced geological and geophysical techniques. You will lead subsurface investigations, interpret complex datasets, and provide expert geological assessments to guide exploration strategies. • Plan and execute geological and geophysical surveys, including seismic acquisition and processing.
• Interpret complex geological and geophysical data to identify and characterize potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Develop detailed subsurface models and prospect evaluations to support exploration investment decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including reservoir engineers and geophysicists, on integrated field development studies.
• Stay abreast of the latest exploration technologies and methodologies, recommending their adoption where beneficial.
• Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to the team's technical knowledge base.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related geoscience field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in oil and gas exploration , with a strong focus on subsurface interpretation.
• Expertise in seismic data interpretation, well log analysis, and basin analysis.
• Proficiency with industry-standard exploration software packages.
• Proven ability to assess geological risk and uncertainty.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
