Senior Petroleum Geologist

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Petroleum Geologist to join their team based in Paarl . This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating exploration opportunities by analyzing geological data and understanding subsurface formations. You will work closely with geoscientists and engineers to define drilling targets and assess resource potential. This position offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the company's exploration strategy within the Western Cape , leveraging your expertise in geological modeling and risk assessment within the dynamic oil and gas sector.

• Conduct detailed geological assessments of potential exploration areas, integrating seismic, well log, and core data.
• Develop comprehensive geological models and play fairway analyses.
• Evaluate and quantify geological risks and uncertainties associated with prospects.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to define optimal well locations and development strategies.
• Utilize advanced geological interpretation software and databases.
• Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to management and stakeholders.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in petroleum exploration , with a strong focus on subsurface interpretation and modeling.
• Proficiency with industry-standard geological software, including seismic interpretation and basin modeling tools.
• Solid understanding of petroleum systems, structural geology, and sedimentology.
• Experience with South African basins or similar frontier exploration areas is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills for operations in Paarl .
