We design and build industrial control panels for water and wastewater treatment systems. We are looking for an Electrical Controls Drafter to produce schematic and panel drawings that drive our panel fabrication.
In this role you will translate control requirements into accurate, production-ready electrical drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, generating the schematics, panel layouts, and reports our shop floor and field teams rely on every day.
Responsibilities- Create electrical schematic drawings for industrial control panels using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Develop panel layout / enclosure drawings, including component placement,wire duct and DIN rail layouts, and door/subpanel arrangements.
- Generate reports: bills of material (BOM), wire label reports, terminalplans, and PLC I/O assignments.
- Build and maintain an AutoCAD Electrical component library and title-block/ project templates for consistency across jobs.
- Interpret electrical specifications for water/wastewater applications (pumps, blowers, VFDs, motor starters, PLCs, instrumentation).
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and panel builders to resolve design questions and incorporate revisions.
- Ensure drawings meet applicable standards (UL 508A) and internal drafting conventions.
- Maintain organized drawing files and as-built documentation.
- Proven proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical (schematics, panel layouts, and automated report generation).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control specifications.
- Understanding of industrial control components: PLCs, VFDs, motor starters,relays, terminal blocks, and instrumentation.
- Strong attention to detail and organized documentation habits.
- Associate degree / technical certificate in drafting, electrical/electronicstechnology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Experience drafting for industrial control panels and/orwater/wastewater systems.
- Familiarity with UL 508A panel-build requirements.
- Knowledge of PLC I/O layouts and networking/instrumentation wiring.
- Experience developing AutoCAD Electrical libraries and templates.
- Exposure to panel fabrication or field startup environments.
