Summary The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate our Company Mission Statement and Core Values daily.
  • Maintain uniform standards as detailed in the Employee Manual for all worked hours.
  • Know and actively demonstrate superior product knowledge.
  • Greet guests and engage in conversation with a smile and a helpful demeanor, remembering that the guest always comes first.
  • Recommend merchandise based on the guests’ needs or desires, focusing on our in‑house brands.
  • Answer guests’ questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
  • Create client relationships with regular guests.
  • Carry product to register counters and handle products for guests if needed.
  • Run a cash register as business dictates.
  • Receive as business dictates.
  • Prepare promotional events as necessary.
  • Set up displays or arrange merchandise in floor stacks, on counters or tables to promote sales.
  • Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness; stock shelves with product.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
  • Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for improperly stocked product to avoid trips and falls.
  • Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow‑moving product, stock levels, out of stocks, and department needs.
  • Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
  • Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Limit use of personal cell phone to work‑related activities only while on the sales floor.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Constantly stand, lift, carry, walk, bend, and reach products routinely weighing up to 50 pounds or more; use proper lifting techniques and tools. Push or pull up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Communicate with and understand team members and guests. See product and signage.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Attendance and timeliness are required. This is not a remote sales job.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily. State law requires applicants to be over the age of 21 to work at Spec's. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    Education or Experience
    • Preferred:
      Retail sales experience.
    • Requirement:
      High school diploma or GED.
    • Experience is considered equivalent to education when appropriate.
    Language Skills
    • Read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
    • Communicate with and understand coworkers and guests.
    • Bilingual skills are a plus.
    Mathematical Skills
    • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
    • Calculate discounts and percentages.
    Demeanor and Personal Skills
    • Smiley, friendly, helpful.
    • Responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service.
    • Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality.
    • Self‑starter with a strong work ethic who completes assignments timely and seeks additional tasks.
    Hours
    • Full‑time: typically 35 hours per week.
    • Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and be available 80% or more of all shifts each week.
    • Part‑time: up to 25 hours per week.
    Reasoning Ability
    • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    Certificates, Licenses
    • Maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
    • Maintain a valid Food Handlers Permit when required.
    Physical Demands
    • Regularly stand, walk, and bend; use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift.
    • Climb or balance as needed.
    • Communicate and understand.
    • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally using proper techniques.
    • Push or pull 50 to 100 pounds regularly.
    • Require close, distance, and depth vision with ability to adjust focus.
    • Schedule is variable and may change weekly based on business needs.
    Work Environment and Environmental Conditions
    • Fun and positive environment to serve guests.
    • Exposure to outside weather conditions while delivering service.
    • Noise level usually moderate.
