Instructional & Behavioral Coach

Provide leadership, support and evaluation of curricular programs and the system of instruction that foster high levels of academic achievement and college readiness for all students. Additionally, this position coordinates and monitors all district professional development.

Leads the development and implementation of PreK-12 curricula aligned to State of Michigan grade level content standards and expectations. Ensures the alignment of written, taught, and tested curricula to increase student achievement. Promotes articulation of curriculum from grade to grade and among schools and teachers. Designs, organizes, and directs a system for materials adoption in the various subject areas and assists the curriculum committees in formulating recommendations.

Supervises and evaluates the performance of all curriculum coordinators, lead teachers and coaches, and the instructional secretary for curriculum, instruction, and professional development. Collaborates, summarizes, and evaluates feedback and reports regarding grant‑funded programs. Provides support for building administrators by providing them with research on instructional best practices and research‑based programming, resources for reform, school‑to‑school cooperation, higher education assistance, and community support that help them reach their goal of college readiness for all students.

Works closely with the central office, elementary and secondary directors, building administrators and staffs to develop solutions to problems as they arise.

Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree with courses in educational administration, evaluation, testing, planning or instruction, Ed.D or Ph.D preferred. Urban school experience is desirable. Five years of successful performance and demonstrated leadership as a public‑school education administrator is required. Evidence of management skills, which include success in critical thinking, problem solving, excellence in communication (particularly with staff, students, and parents) and demonstrated leadership experience is required.

Evidence of successful experience in planning and directing programming including budget development is required.
