Position: Legal Research 1/2 - Teaching Fellow - Boley

Overview

Thank you for your interest in being a Teaching Fellow for this year’s Legal Research 1 and Legal Research 2 (LR1 and LR2) courses! This paid position requires upper-division students to assist instructors in administering LR1 and LR2 throughout the year, and includes preparatory work before the school begins in August. We are seeking three Teaching Fellows, one for each instructor, with a compensation of $18 per hour and a maximum of 75 hours for the school year.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the assigned LR instructor, meeting weekly to discuss upcoming assignments, student concerns, and course matters; test and provide feedback on proposed class work and exams; create answer keys or model answers; and review and comment on ungraded student homework.
  • Attend class sessions each week; assist with student questions and in‑class work during one class each week, splitting time between the instructor’s different sections as practicable.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, including tracking student attendance and coursework completion.
  • Mentor and support 1L students, offering guidance during class, office hours, and throughout the semester as students seek help.
  • Compensation and Time Commitment

    Students will be paid $18 per hour, with a maximum of 75 hours for the position. The typical workload is roughly 37 hours each semester, including setup, assignment review, and at least one weekly class session.

    Qualifications
    • Basic command of legal research strategies and tools, including Westlaw and Lexis, as learned in LR1.
    • Strong communication skills.
    • Willingness to work with first‑year students.
    • Basic fluency with Google Classroom and other technology used in the course.
    • Good organizational skills and the ability to respond quickly to student inquiries.
