Part-Time Elementary/Middle School Special Education Resource
Room Teacher
The Part-Time Elementary/Middle School Special Education Resource Room Teacher provides individualized and small-group instruction to students with disabilities in grades K–8. This teacher works closely with classroom teachers, families, and support staff to help students achieve their academic and personal goals while providing the services outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to meet students’ unique learning needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Assess student progress and adjust instruction to help students meet their goals.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide accommodations, modifications, and instructional support.
- Participate in IEP meetings and communicate regularly with parents and guardians.
- Maintain accurate and timely student records and required documentation.
- Collaborate with related service providers, including speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and school psychology staff.
- Support students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth using positive intervention strategies.
- Use a variety of instructional methods to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Assist with transition planning when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and other required district meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Principal.
- Willingness to obtain the appropriate Special Education endorsement or a valid Michigan teaching certificate with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.
- Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and best practices.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and monitor student progress.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
