Job Description
We are seeking candidates who display a strong desire and ability to make an impact on students and the greater community both within and outside of the classroom.
Job SummaryProvides early childhood special education programming, employing a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet the individualized learning needs of preschool children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion in all practices.
- Plan lessons and specially designed instruction for caseload students, aligned with special education goals/objectives.
- Maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Bill Medicaid for case management services
- Continually supervise students to ensure a safe, non-threatening, nurturing environment where children thrive.
- Collaborate with classroom team, support staff, and ancillary staff to develop/design, implement, and monitor the effectiveness of instruction and interventions.
- Communicate regularly with parents.
- Monitor and report on student progress.
- Facilitate team meetings, student level problem solving meetings, and IEPs.
- Model appropriate adaptations, accommodations, and modifications for individual students/staff to ensure their success.
- Develop IEPs, present level statements, measurable goals and objectives, and documentation of progress toward goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate belief that ALL children can learn and acceptance of differences in students.
- Willingness and commitment to participate in curriculum development, school improvement, and professional development opportunities.
- Abide by all district policies and procedures and demonstrate competencies specified in Michigan Special Education Rules and Regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or his/her designee.
Michigan elementary teacher certification with special education and early childhood education endorsement (ZA or ZS). Must meet State of Michigan certification and highly qualified requirements. Ability to work with other professionals in a collaborative manner. Ability to relate positively to students, parents, and other staff. ASD Certification preferred.
CompensationIn accordance with the master agreement between Comstock Park Educational Employees Association and the Comstock Park Board of Education.
The final candidate for this position will be required (at their cost) to furnish the district with a current Michigan State Police and FBI criminal records Live Scan check prior to our recommendation to hire.
