Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsement in Autistic Impaired or Special Education endorsement and willing to obtain an Autism Endorsement
• Demonstrated competencies in areas of interpersonal relationships, communication and organization
• Meet requirements to be Highly Qualified under NCLB/IDEA

Performance Responsibilities:

• Individualize instruction to meet the unique needs of students
• Manage a safe, comfortable learning environment
• Prepare for and participate in the IEP/IFSP process
• Provide appropriate physical intervention to ensure the safety and provision of personal care to the students
• Effectively plan and organize duties
• Demonstrate consistent, effective management of student behavior
• Train and direct paraprofessionals and other classroom assistants
• Maintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel and community representatives
• Inform supervisor of students’ progress and programmatic concerns
• Maintain accurate and timely records
• Coordinate and conduct effective parent conferences
• Demonstrate professional conduct and exhibit professional growth
• Comply with school district policies and procedures
• Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffings, and other required district and building activities
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Comply with Medicaid billing procedures
