System Design Engineer

OverviewThe System Design Engineer is responsible for developing system and subsystem designs, requirements, software requirements, integration activities, and verification testing. This role ensures designs are fully defined, traceable, and validated through testing down to component and software levels. The engineer is expected to deliver high-quality work on schedule while supporting cross-functional engineering efforts.
Responsibilities to Anticipate- Develop system and subsystem requirements, including decomposition and traceability to component-level requirements using MBSE tools (ex: Cameo)
- Model platform behaviors using SysML diagrams
- Support vehicle and subsystem integration activities, including verification planning and test procedure development
- Perform functional analysis to develop system flows and concepts of operation
- Provide technical input to project planning, schedules, and cost estimates
- Integrate subsystems and components into existing vehicle architectures
- Support cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and engineering departments
- Develop and review system/subsystem connectivity diagrams using MBSE or electrical design tools (ex: Capital Logic)
- Support additional engineering tasks as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
- 7–10 years of related engineering experience (fewer years considered with advanced degree)
- Experience developing system requirements, specifications, traceability, and compliance to customer requirements
- Strong experience decomposing system designs to component level while maintaining system requirement compliance
- Experience developing subsystem requirements from allocated system requirements
- MBSE modeling experience using Cameo Magic Draw (or similar tools)
- Capital Enterprise (or similar electrical design / connectivity tools) experience
- Experience with vehicle data bus systems (CAN J1939, Ethernet) and associated analysis tools
- Working knowledge of Requirements Manager (Teamcenter) and/or DOORS
- Ability to work in office, shop, lab, test site, and vehicle environments
- Ability to work on/around military vehicles and pass ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) if required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership capability
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance if required
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Defense industry experience, preferably with ground combat or land-based vehicle systems
- Experience working with U.S. Government customers
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in team environments
- Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
