Job Title:
System Integration Engineer – Prototype / Vehicle Integration
Location:
Sterling Heights, Michigan (Onsite)
The System Integration Engineer leads prototype vehicle integration activities, ensuring successful build, verification, and delivery of military ground vehicles. This role serves as the key interface between subsystem engineering teams and prototype manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead developmental projects for prototype vehicle integration and build execution
- Develop and maintain prototype build schedules and fabrication plans
- Support procurement of prototype hardware and materials
- Initiate and manage shop work orders
- Coordinate engineering support for prototype shop activities
- Serve as liaison between subsystem engineers and prototype build teams
- Oversee vehicle‑level system integration, testing, and issue resolution
- Direct assembly of subsystems onto military vehicles using engineering models and drawings
- Monitor Engineering BOM maturity and Engineering Release Plan execution
- Track material availability and resolve “late-to-need” issues
- Document issues via Engineering Problem Reports (EPRs)
- Foster collaboration between engineers, mechanics, and build teams
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Ability to work onsite and around military vehicle environments
- Must pass ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) confined space test
- Ability to work overtime occasionally (evenings/weekends)
- Experience with military ground combat vehicles
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, and Oracle systems
- Strong understanding of prototype fabrication and vehicle integration
- Continuous improvement / lean manufacturing experience
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Hands‑on prototype and vehicle build environment
- Collaboration between engineering teams and shop floor mechanics
- Physical mobility required (climbing in/out of vehicles, confined spaces)
