Position: HIL/SIL Technical Specialist Engineer (14286)
HIL/SIL Engineering Specialist

General Dynamics is looking to hire a highly-motivated, best-in-class Senior HIL / SIL Engineer. This position will be responsible for the development, integration, and maintenance of HIL /SIL test systems, which shall include, but not be limited to, the following capabilities:
  • Simulation of synthetic driving environments (e.g., terrain, weather, lighting, position, obstacles, etc.)
  • Real-time physics-based plant simulation
  • Signal conditioning and fault injection
  • Test automation executive
  • DAQ for CAN, Ethernet, 1553, RS-422, SSI, discrete analog, discrete digital, and other signal types
  • Support for various 3rd-party tools
Applicants should have the following skillset:

Electrical/Electronic Engineering:
  • DIGITAL CIRCUIT DESIGN:
    Digital signal conditioning; encoders; counters; sinking I/O; sourcing I/O; impedance matching; A/D; D/A; digital filters (IIR, LP, HP, BP, ...); control logic; power; optical and galvanic isolation
  • ANALOG CIRCUIT DESIGN:
    Analog signal conditioning, analog filter design (LP, HP, BP, ...), filter response, Nyquist sampling theory, aliasing, mitigation, resolver circuits, LVDT circuits, thermocouple circuits
  • SERIAL INTERFACE DESIGN: RS232, RS422/485, CAN, MIL-Std-1553B, Ethernet, SSI, SPI, I2C, transceivers
  • FPGA DESIGN:
    Sensor emulation, digital filters, serial devices, high speed logic control
  • MICRO-CONTROLLERS:
    Design custom micro-controller applications

Position Requirements :
  • BS in Electrical Engineering required with a minor in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (preferred)
  • Proven 10+ record of participation in full life cycle software design for military, civil avionics systems, or automotive systems
  • Experience with embedded electronics architecture in military, automotive, or avionics applications
  • Experience testing embedded software
  • Experience developing test applications in NI Veristand, Vector CANoe, Simulink, NI Test Stand, or equivalent technology
  • Experience using Wireshark
  • Experience with reading and understanding electrical schematics
  • Working knowledge of HIL, signal conditioning, simulation, and data acquisition
  • Familiarity with standards such as PCAP, PTP, and PRP
  • Working knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations including, but not limited to, MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, FACE
  • Experience in military practices for Safety Design and Assessment per MIL-STD-882E
  • Design knowledge of embedded operating systems including RTOS and partitioned OS environments
  • Experience in high bandwidth data buses and network technology (e.g. AFDX, PCI Express, Ethernet, TSN)
  • Model base design methods (e.g. UML)
