Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – Military Vehicle Systems
Location: Sterling Heights, MI (Onsite)
Position Type: Contract
Pay Rate: Up to $51.00/hr.
Contract Professionals, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support military combat vehicle product and technology upgrades. This role focuses on electrical system specification, wiring harness and cable assembly design, subsystem integration, validation, and full lifecycle documentation within a configuration-controlled defense environment.
Prior experience with military ground vehicle electrical systems is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Specify and design electrical components from system and subsystem requirements
• Design and release military vehicle wiring harnesses and cable assemblies
• Validate requirements through modeling, simulation, analysis, and/or testing
• Prepare specifications, ICDs, technical documentation, and test reports
• Develop and complete Technical Data Packages (TDPs)
• Prepare cost estimates and schedules for assigned electrical efforts
• Generate Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), ECNs, and Engineering Orders
• Coordinate with procurement and manufacturing to ensure schedule adherence
• Guide designers and drafters in producing releasable documentation
• Provide recurring status updates to leadership and customers
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 4+ years of experience
OR
Master’s degree plus 1+ year of experience
• Military ground vehicle wiring harness and cabling design experience
• Experience with military vehicle electrical/electronic systems
• Knowledge of 28
VDC power distribution systems
• Experience with Solid State Power Controllers (SSPC) or programmable power controllers
• Vehicle signal management experience (sensor/transducer I/O)
• Working knowledge of military electrical connectors and cabling standards
• Experience with SAE J1939 CANBus, MIL-STD-1553, and Ethernet protocols
• Experience integrating communication and antenna systems (BFT, SINCGARS, DAGR, CREW2)
• Proficiency with Visio Technical, Creo, or similar tools
• Experience supporting armored or tactical combat vehicle platforms
• Experience in configuration-controlled defense programs
• Cross-functional coordination across engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain
• Drug screen required
• Background check required
• U.S. Citizenship may be required
