PGS Worldwide is seeking an Electrical Harness Designer in Sterling Heights, MI for a one-year temporary role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Electrical Harness Designer will design, route, model, draft, and integrate complex wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, LRUs, and electrical components for military ground vehicles. This role is heavily focused on Creo Parametric, Creo Pro-Cable, wire harness routing, cabling design, and vehicle-level electrical packaging in a hybrid engineering environment.

Required Skills

  • Associate degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 9+ years of experience; or relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 5+ years of experience.
  • 5 years of design experience in Creo Parametric.
  • 2 years of design experience in Creo Pro-Cable.
  • Experience modeling and drafting within Creo Parametric.
  • Experience routing wiring harnesses in Creo Parametric.
  • Experience designing wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Experience routing wiring harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Experience developing wiring harness and cable assembly drawings.
  • Experience working with electrical/electronic systems of military ground vehicles.
  • Understanding of drawing generation using Creo Pro-Cable.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD-100, ANSI Y14.5/14.41, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Understanding of wire routing using logical data from Siemens Capital Harness.
  • Working knowledge of military electrical connector and electrical cabling specifications.
  • Ability to complete designs from concept development through review, detailed design, documentation, verification, and validation.
  • Expert knowledge of CAD drafting, modeling, and design techniques.
  • Ability to use advanced modeling and analysis tools to develop product specifications, models, simulations, technical data packages, and integration/verification procedures.
  • Strong teamwork skills in an Integrated Product Team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • No security clearance required.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong Creo Cabling experience.
  • Strong electrical cabling experience.
  • Experience with vehicle-level electrical packaging, LRU integration, harness flattening, harness dimensioning, peer review release processes, component packaging, and ground vehicle electrical design.

What You'll Do

  • Design and draft electrical components, wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, and line replaceable units.
  • Design and draft mechanical parts, such as brackets, to support electrical equipment packaging.
  • Design, route, and integrate complex wiring harnesses throughout an entire vehicle.
  • Flatten and dimension wiring harness models.
  • Package and integrate electrical components within a full vehicle system.
  • Assess vehicle space constraints and determine routing paths for wiring harnesses.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to finalize vehicle component packaging.
  • Produce models and drawings in accordance with modeling and drafting requirements.
  • Submit models and drawings through peer review and release processes.
  • Incorporate and disposition peer review feedback.
  • Support concept development, detailed design, documentation, verification, and validation of electrical subsystems.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • Hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week.
  • 9/80 schedule.
  • No overtime expected.

Pay

  • $55.57/hour
