HSE Manager

Minimum Position Requirements

Education and/or

Experience:

• Bachelor of Science Degree or Equivalent in related field.
• Five years experience in manufacturing environment

Position responsibilities include:

• Develop EHS strategies that support business needs and the organization’s vision.
• Develop and oversee company training programs in hazardous material handling, emergency response, OSHA regulatory training, industrial hygiene, life safety, environmental and EPA compliance.
• Follow all Hutchinson recording and reporting requirements.
• Maintain compliance with ISO 14001 certification.
• Manage the hazardous waste and recycling program with a focus on compliance, safety, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken on health, safety, and environmental hazards or potential hazards.
• Champion projects to achieve plant and corporate goals and objectives.
• Develop and maintain metrics to ensure ongoing performance.
• Other EHS responsibilities include regulatory interpretation, planning, and auditing.
• Responsible for developing and implementing management systems and new programs to reduce injury potential and ensure robust regulatory compliance.

Reports to Ithaca Plant Manager. Maintains regular interface with all levels of plant management and personnel in Ithaca as well as Departmental Heads in MA.

In absence of an incumbent in this position, the backup for primary duties is the responsibility of the MI Plant Manager. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned among other qualified employees, depending on business priorities.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Fully responsible for planning, organizing and running technical projects; complete and manage all documentation including technical quotes and proposals, project schedules, cost plans, and purchase requisitions.
• Trained to maintain an Environmental Management System.
• Ability to lead and work with teammates on project activities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of the manufacturing processes used in-house.
• Experience with most of the following:
  Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mini Tab, Oracle, AutoCAD.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to provide leadership with customers and internal personnel at all levels.

• Bachelor of Science Degree or Equivalent
• Five years experience in a manufacturing environment
• Trained and knowledgeable of MIOSHA, OSHA and EPA Rules, Environmental and Health Standards and Requirements for ISO Certification
• Understanding of continuous improvement and Project Management
• Continuous lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 lbs.
• Stand/walk for extended periods of time
• Adjust focus, color vision, depth perception, distant vision, and peripheral vision

Noise intensity level moderate, temperature fluctuations, chemical contact.
