Power System Design Senior Engineer

The Power System Design Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, integration, and validation of advanced vehicle power subsystems for current and next-generation military platforms. This role focuses on hybrid-electric architectures, power distribution, energy storage integration, system modeling, and subsystem-level performance optimization. The engineer will guide architecture decisions, perform advanced analysis, and support vehicle-level integration and testing efforts across multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilitiesto Anticipate for this Role:
- Lead power system design and development efforts for advanced vehicle capabilities, including hybrid-electric architectures
- Develop and evaluate power subsystem architectures and perform trade studies for emerging technologies
- Work with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to integrate power system components into vehicle platforms
- Develop CAE models for complex hybrid-electric systems including:
- High-voltage batteries
- Integrated Starter Generators (ISG)
- Electric motors
- DC/DC converters
- Power distribution systems
- Build and integrate subsystem models to evaluate performance under real-world operating conditions (drive cycles, load profiles, environmental conditions)
- Perform system sizing and analysis based on customer and platform requirements
- Translate system requirements into validation plans, test procedures, and operational use cases
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation including SRS, SSDD, CAN ICDs, and related artifacts
- Support lab and vehicle-level integration, troubleshooting, and validation activities
- Participate in technical reviews, design audits, and customer demonstrations
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and contribute to long-term power system roadmaps
- Research and evaluate emerging hybrid-electric and electrification technologies
- Support cross-functional collaboration across engineering, test, and manufacturing teams
- Ensure designs meet performance, cost, schedule, and integration requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in electrical power system design, integration, and development
- Strong background in hybrid-electric vehicle architectures and system integration
- Experience with power generation, distribution, management, and energy storage systems
- Proficiency with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and ANSYS
- Experience supporting lab and vehicle-level integration and troubleshooting
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across engineering disciplines
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced development environment
- Willingness to support occasional overtime and limited travel
