Co‑op Mechatronics Engineering – Summer 2026

Key Responsibilities
- Assigned an engineering project aligned with current R&D initiatives within the Engine or Chassis departments, collaborating closely with the engineering team.
- Support hardware architecture design, including component sizing and selection, contributing to development and/or validation of complex mechatronic systems (e.g., selection of micro‑processors, sensors, actuators, DAQ devices, signal processing circuits for HiL test environments).
- Perform data analysis to support system characterization/modeling, continuous improvement, calibration, triage, and validation activities.
- Develop, architect, design, implement, validate, and parameterize algorithms to enable intended system function in coordination with stakeholder and application requirements.
- Effectively communicate with cross‑functional teams to complete assigned tasks.
- Work independently, responsibly, and open to instruction.
- Gain developmental opportunities through tasks such as projects, job rotation, hands‑on training, and exposure to Schaeffler’s technological processes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher per semester.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Extremely self‑motivated and driven to achieve results.
- Assertive problem‑solving approach.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods, and lift and move thirty pounds.
- Participation in SAE collegiate competition teams (Formula, Baja, etc.) preferred.
- 3D CAD modeling and software proficiency preferred.
- Mechanical hobbyist preferred.
