Summary Of PositionProject Managers at Ascent Aerospace manage a portfolio of capital equipment projects to build the world’s aircraft (airplanes, helicopters, rockets) for major aircraft OEMs and their sub‑tier suppliers. Typical projects include design, build and installation of mold tooling for fabricating composite parts, assembly jigs & fixtures, work platforms, automation (such as auto‑drill / rivet machines), up to and including full assembly line design and build for the aircraft.
EssentialFunctions
- Performance, Cost & Schedule Management
Oversee interrelated criteria of performance, cost, and schedule throughout the design and build process, using Integrated Master Schedules in MS Project to keep projects within contractual boundaries. - Customer Relationships
Build and maintain internal and external customer relationships, establishing trust and confidence through proactive communication and managing difficult situations with integrity. - Risk And Opportunities
Track, communicate, and mitigate risks while capitalizing on opportunities, collaborating with finance for variance analysis. - Change Control
Manage changes in scope, preparing change requests and capturing associated cost and schedule impacts in compliance with the contract. - Leadership
Lead project and shared resource teams within a matrix organization, fostering collaboration, communication, and accountability. - Additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.
- BS in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial), Construction Management, or Business with a concentration in Project Management.
- 5+ years experience in Program / Project Management.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills; excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to read blueprints / CAD models and basic understanding of GD&T principles.
- Ability to understand a P&L statement, principles of cash management, and strong Excel spreadsheet skills for analysis.
- Strong negotiation skills for financial, contractual, and technical disputes while maintaining positive relationships.
- Proficient with Microsoft Project and other Microsoft Office platforms.
- Basic understanding of contracts and compliance matrices.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Adaptable and capable of thriving in fast‑paced, high‑impact projects.
- Must possess and maintain a Defense or Defense Secret security clearance.
- Position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements; only U.S. Persons (per 22.C.F.R.) may apply.
- PMP Certification.
May be required to travel to other site locations during the workday; overnight stays and out‑of‑area travel may be required and will be paid by business to customer and vendor sites.
Working Conditions- Typically sits at a computer workstation for extended periods.
- May access and work in the manufacturing plant.
- May be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and occasional caustic chemicals.
- Noise level is usually moderate.
- May be required to work weekends to meet business demands.
- Safety glasses and safety shoes are mandatory/recommended in the manufacturing area.
- Must be able to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Must be able to walk and stand for short periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
