Systems Engineer
Job Title
Develop high-fidelity finite element (FE) models, with emphasis on mesh generation, to perform a variety of physics-based structural and dynamic analyses of ground vehicle systems, sub-systems, and occupants. Research and analyze FEA and/or CFD in the areas of blast, ballistic, fragmentation, and penetration modeling and simulation. Research and analyze solutions to meet customer requirements, in the areas of blast, ballistic, fragmentation, and penetration modeling simulation.
Perform trade studies to compare alternative approaches. Understand/create/review test requirements and plans. Support/Monitor prototype development. Execute modeling and simulation methodologies using standard and advanced finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes such as LS-Dyna, CTH, EPIC, ANSA, and Hyperworks. Types of analyses performed can include, but not be limited to, modeling of underbody blast on a vehicle, ammunition compartmentation survivability mitigation, and ballistic/penetration characterization.
Experience in computational analysis with direct or related experience in FEA and/or CFD. Familiarity with CAD and CAD software packages (e.g., ProE or Solid Works). Knowledge of military systems, and live-fire testing and analysis.
Education:
BS or MS Engineering (e.g. Electrical, Computer Science, Software, Systems, Aerospace, Automotive).
Experience:
7 years of computational engineering experience. Experience in delivering large complex US defense programs preferred.
Experience with standard bus protocols (CANBus, Ethernet, Serial communications).
Experience with military Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5
ISR) systems. Experience with proposals, bid capture, contract negotiations and delivery planning. Practical 'hands on' attitude with the ability to operate independently. Detailed knowledge of military standards and regulations preferred. Experience of working in a multi-discipline, multi-national, multi-organizational and corporate environment.
