Job Description
We are recruiting for an experienced Staff Engineer.
CANDIDATE MUST BE HIGHLY COMPETENT IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:- Thorough knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, machine design and mechanics of materials analyses, and electrical controls systems.
- Application of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for castings and machining, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) principles.
- Ability to make sound decisions of a highly technical nature independently.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment and ensure proper operation.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Experience working in boiler operations, power plants, or similar industrial environment.
- Facilitate new project progression from date of sale through successful startup and commissioning to include support of design, manufacturing and installation.
- Supports engineering function in research and development, design, and operation of equipment.
- Assists in developing internal standards and procedures.
- Reviews job specifications for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer specifications.
- Exercises functional authority for completion of solid, liquid, and gaseous fuel burning equipment and ash handling systems projects.
- Selects equipment and materials for mechanical, structural, or controls components for contract jobs.
- Writes equipment and service specifications for contract purchased items.
- Support CAD personnel ensuring final product designs are functional, serviceable, and complete.
- Assists the sales process by establishing a technical base for project applications and provides adequate supporting documentation for quantitative back up and future reference.
- Provide engineering support to internal and external customers to maintain existing equipment.
- Coordinates engineering and manufacturing departments as they relate to their project responsibilities, providing information outlining project specifications, authorizing resources and defining obligations to assure compliance with specifications to ensure customer satisfaction with timely delivery.
- Serves as primary contact between customer and DSC, maintaining direct involvement and control in issues related to changes in the project related to cost, delivery and customer specifications.
- Travels to customer sites to provide technical assistance including equipment inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, operational issues, and testing equipment for research and development purposes (as needed).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- 1 year of engineering related work experience (full-time or internship/co-op acceptable).
- Flexibility for travel up to 25%.
- Driver license and passport.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation / public speaking.
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and CAD software.
