General SummaryAs the Therapy Technician you will provide therapy delegated programs such as functional restorative plans as directed and supervised by therapy. Assist the therapy department in transporting residents, maintaining the cleanliness of the department and assisting in the preparation and treatment of patients in therapy under the direct supervision and in line sight of the PT/OT/ST.
Your Responsibilities- Provides restorative care as delegated and taught by licensed therapists:
- Range of motion – passive, active
- Ambulation including assistive devices used
- Bed mobility and positioning techniques
- Application of splints, braces, cones, prosthetic devices and care of limbs where applied
- Assistive feeding devices and restorative dining techniques; cueing and swallowing
- Activity of daily living techniques; bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene
- Transfer techniques
- Communication techniques
- Document program completion on a daily basis and narrative progress notes as required.
- Report changes in function to therapy staff.
- Transport residents to and from the rehab department.
- Maintain neatness and cleanliness within the department and comply with the established cleaning schedules.
- Prepare patients for and apply modalities such as hot packs, ultrasound and ice according to the guidelines established by the PT/OT and in line of sight of the PT/OT.
- Assist in the performance of transfers, gait training and exercise programs as requested by and in line sight of the PT/OT for treatment purposes.
- Observe patient confidentiality at all times.
- Abide by all safety, infection control and other guidelines as required.
- Assist with scheduling therapy.
