Entry Level Logistics Product Software Developer

Location:

Sterling Heights, MI

Rate: $39 - $51 per hour

About

The Role

Entry‑level candidate will work with an existing team of developers supporting a large multinational database, Content Management System (CMS), and related custom and COTS software producing Logistics Product Data (LPD), Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) reports and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) for the US Army and other defense customers.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate strong technical and communication skills to develop and support a variety of logistics software.
  • Carry out software development, documentation, technical support, application and database administration, and user training.
  • Analyze, design, develop, document, test, deploy and support software applications with proficiency in programming/scripting and database systems.
  • Assist users with troubleshooting issues in Teamcenter.
  • Train new and existing users on Teamcenter usage.
  • Help users locate items, IRs, datasets, etc., and manage mass downloads of PDF drawings.
  • Handle JT data exports/downloads and perform JT data export tasks.
  • Execute TC UAT and production testing after upgrades.
  • Create and update BOMs.
  • Merge JT files and create session files with snapshots using Vis Mockup; resolve scaling and orientation issues and help users with Vis Mockup questions; perform STEP to JT conversions.
  • Open NX and Creo CAD models, export JT data, and perform CAD to STEP conversions when required.
  • Collaborate in a team environment to support, analyze, derive requirements, and assist in the development of new software and improvements to existing applications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Windows, Unix, and Linux operating systems and development environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of Teamcenter usage.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in Teamcenter.
  • Training new and existing users on Teamcenter.
  • Proficiency locating items, IRs, datasets, etc., and handling mass PDF drawings downloads.
  • Proficiency with JT data exports/downloads and performing JT data export tasks.
  • Ability to conduct TC UAT and production testing after upgrades.
  • Experience in BOM creation and updates.
  • Extensive knowledge of Vis Mockup, including session file creation, scaling/orientation adjustments, and step-to-JT conversion.
  • Knowledge of NX and Creo CAD systems; able to open CAD models, export JT data, and perform CAD-to-STEP conversions.
  • Knowledge of PCs, Windows, and Unix, including network drive mapping, ARS group management, Unix/C‑Shell setup, and scripting in Shell and Perl.
  • Computer programming/scripting skills in Perl, Python, Visual , and Unix/Linux/Windows shell scripting.
  • Object‑oriented programming skills (Python, Java, C#, or C++).
  • Database system knowledge, database design, SQL (PL/SQL, T‑SQL, or MySQL), and familiarity with SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle.
  • Markup language skills in XML, DTD/Schema (XSD), XSL, SGML, and related technologies.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Extend Script and Ghost script.
  • Familiarity with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, IIS, ASP.NET).
  • Experience with Logistics Product Data (LPD) software development and application/database administration.
  • Experience with IBM Cognos Analytics/Reporting and/or Oracle E‑Business.
  • Strong propensity to record and document processes, software, and source code.
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking skills for solving complex problems.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and programming languages as required.
  • Personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and adhere to standard practices.
  • Adherence to strict project schedules and ability to meet high quality standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ability to work both on‑site and remotely as required.
  • Occasional weekday and/or weekend overtime.
  • Occasional short‑term travel.
