Apex Placement and Consulting has partnered with an exciting company in the Metro Detroit area looking to add a Tool Room Machinist / CNC Machinist to their already amazing team.
Their primary responsibility will be to support the tool room and production machining lines by setting up, operating, and maintaining manual and CNC machining equipment. Keep reading for more details!

- Set up and operate manual machines in the tool room including engine lathes and a Bridgeport mill
- Set up and run 3‑axis CNC mills using setup sheets, drawings, and programmer notes
- Work with a variety of machines including Fanuc‑controlled vertical machining centers and Hurco mills with Win Max software
- Install tooling, change cutting tools, and adjust feeds and speeds per job requirements
- Perform minor program edits at the machine using G and M codes
- Operate multiple machines at the same time as production demands require
- Run production machining lines as needed to support throughput
- Perform in‑process and preliminary inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other inspection equipment
- Interpret aerospace drawings, parts lists, specifications, and customer requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety‑focused work environment
- Strong experience with manual machining, including engine lathes and Bridgeport mills
- CNC machining experience with 3‑axis mills
- Experience with Fanuc controls (OKK or similar platforms required)
- Experience with Hurco mills and Win Max software is a plus
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D machining practices
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and precision inspection tools
- Familiarity with G and M codes and the ability to make minor program edits
- Willingness to supply and maintain personal tools
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform frequent bending and twisting
