Epitec is seeking to fill a Process Engineer – Gear Machining role for our client, the largest automaker in the U.S. This opportunity supports critical Powertrain manufacturing operations and offers the chance to work in a highly technical, hands‑on environment focused on launch excellence, quality, and continuous improvement.
About the RoleIn this role, you will support gear machining launch activities
, working closely with the headquarters launch team and suppliers to ensure incoming manufacturing lines are successfully delivered and capable of meeting key business metrics for long‑term success.
This is a fully onsite role in Sterling Heights, MI
, supporting hands‑on gear machining operations.
- Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activities for gear machining
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
- Complete PPAP quality launch documentation
- Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and improve manufacturing processes
- Develop and execute action plans to investigate issues and verify corrective actions
- Lead and conduct process audits
- Perform job ergonomic evaluations
- Create process and instruction sheets
- Deliver capable processes and tools for gear machining operations
- Lead lean manufacturing and variability reduction initiatives
- Ensure compliance with Plant, Corporate, Governmental, and Environmental standards
- Support ISO 14001 compliance
- Identify throughput constraints and drive root‑cause improvements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5+ years of related manufacturing or process engineering experience
Strong background in Manufacturing Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Processes - Strong leadership and communication skills
- Gear machining / hypoid bevel process experience
- Powertrain manufacturing experience
- QDAS, Minitab
- Klingelnberg P40 & Gleason Nano Gear CMM
- Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Why, DMAIC, FMEA, PPAP, DOE
