Location: Sterling Heights, MI
Pay Rate: $42.30/hour
Shift: Morning Shift | 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Overtime up to 20 hours/week)
Work Type: Fully Onsite
Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Manufacturing / Process Engineer to support Axle Carrier Machining operations in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role focuses on process improvement, quality assurance, safety, and productivity
, using lean manufacturing principles and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
- Support Manufacturing Process Engineering activities for Axle Carrier Machining
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and throughput
- Apply engineering and analytical techniques to develop and improve manufacturing processes
- Lead 8D corrective actions and structured root cause problem‑solving initiatives
- Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain Operations guidelines
- Perform ergonomic job evaluations and implement corrective actions
- Analyze inventory and reject root causes; lead mapping and reduction initiatives
- Create and maintain process documentation and work instructions
- Deliver capable processes, tooling, and methods for machining operations
- Lead resolution of machining‑related quality and production concerns
- Drive variability reduction, lean manufacturing, and best practice initiatives
- Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal audits
- Identify throughput constraints and lead improvements to achieve Rate of Climb targets
- Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, and environmental standards
- 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Process Engineering
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, GMP, and structured problem‑solving
- Experience leading quality corrective actions (8D, 5-Why)
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- Machining or tooling experience in a manufacturing environment
- Lean Six Sigma experience (DMAIC, DFSS)
- Experience with PPAP, FMEA, DOE, and quality systems
- Knowledge of 5S, Kanban, Poka‑Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, and TQM
- Ergonomic analysis and visual factory management experience
- Required: High School Diploma / GED
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Fully onsite role in a manufacturing environment
- Morning shift with required overtime up to 20 hours per week
