MPS Group, Inc.,is seeking an
Environmental Technician
to join our team at the
Stellantis Assembly Plant
located in
Sterling Heights, MI
. This individual will be responsible for handling solid and hazardous waste at the plant.
Shift: 1st
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.
- 4:00 p.m.
Job Duties
- Segregate, sort and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfill, recycling center, and any other disposal site.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspection prior to use.
- Clean/maintain organization and compliance of 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, labeling drums.
- Assist Supervisor with response to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping, or vacuuming solids and containerizing cleaned up materials for proper disposal.
- Assist Supervisor with daily supply delivery, waste pick up and waste organization.
- Perform weekly inspections of waste storage areas, spill response kits, and storm drain pathways taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during the inspection.
- Perform daily walk-throughs and waste response actions of designated production and non-production areas including collection. points of all waste streams the plant generates.
- Document and inform Supervisor of any contamination in plant’s garbage, recycling and various other waste containers.
- Maintain/complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections and other activities as required.
- Operate forklift to move waste and to load/unload trucks.
- Follow all plant- related safety guidelines.
- Other tasks assigned by manager.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work 40 hours a week.
- Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours a day.
- Capacity to repetitively lift and move at least 50 pounds of weight during short bursts of activity.
- Training will be mixed structured and on-site job training for the tasks at hand.
- Extensive, in-house Health and Safety training.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
- 40-hour HAZWOPER.
- RCRA/DOT training.
- Experience working in an automotive assembly environment and/or manufacturing.
