Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for activities related to Materials Department at MPT Sterling Heights including but not limited to: MAFACT, pull system, shipping & receiving, warehouse organization, reporting, inventory control, labeling, suppliers, shop floor support and delivery on time.
- Receive materials as required and update records in CMS.
- Verify material quantities received and report any discrepancies in delivery, quantity, labeling, etc.
- Create, submit and track supplier delivery/logistics/quantity issues.
- Organize and maintain containers, raw materials and finished goods in the warehouse.
- Ensure accuracy of raw material and finished goods inventories.
- Track and report CMS inventories across all MPTSH locations, suppliers, WIP, FGs, etc.
- Report material inventories daily and track outsourcing suppliers, reporting delivery performance on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
- Support labeling process and follow up with manufacturing. Unload and verify customer dunnage and store in designated area.
- Verify correct counts and correct dunnage.
- Load trucks in accordance with shipping needs and customer requirements.
- Ensure correct parts are placed on the right trucks.
- Utilize barcode scanners for shipments and ensure processes are followed.
- Print labels and ensure accuracy.
- Verify and sign all shipments, including quantity verification and all delivery requirements to production lines.
- Organize finished goods and WIP parts to ensure FIFO inventory system.
- Accurate packaging inventory tracking and reporting, including Jatco.
- Unload and put away stock (packaging and components).
- Pre-stage customer orders and report container damage.
- Provide MRO material inventory support.
- Maintain accurate organization and filing of all paperwork.
- Perform cycle counts and report inventory differences.
- Move stock safely and efficiently to support cycle counts.
- Prepare incoming and outgoing shippers.
- Submit shipping information to customers as required.
- Perform verifications and checklists as required.
- Participate in A3s and corrective actions as needed.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures including IATF
16949, ISO
14001 (EMS), and the Employee Handbook. - Follow MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations, wearing required PPE.
- Participate in division and department improvement initiatives through the Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program.
- Maintain professional and cooperative communication with all employees.
- Treat co‑workers with dignity and respect in accordance with Magna Employee Charter and Common Values.
- Comply with ISO
14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management within MPT’s EMS.
Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Hi‑Lo driver in a manufacturing warehouse environment.
- Ability to follow MIOSHA safety requirements.
- Strong forklift and shipping dock skills.
- Basic MAFACT training and knowledge of JATCO and Ford/G.M. specific requirements.
- Knowledge and compliance with safety procedures and policies.
- Demonstrates creativity, initiative and problem‑solving skills.
- Team‑oriented work approach and ability to collaborate.
- Ability to work overtime when required.
- Excellent attendance and performance record.
- Proficient in bar‑coding systems.
- Self‑starter who is positive and professional.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, occasionally stressful environment.
Hi‑Lo permits required. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Additional Skills- Language:
Read, interpret, and write English documents, safety rules, operating and shipping instructions, and procedure manuals. - Mathematical:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. - Reasoning:
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. - Computer:
Knowledge of Manufacturing AS400, CMS, basic Excel, and Microsoft Office. - Communication:
