Material Handler

Under direct supervision, the Material Handler 1 Entry Level position is responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distribution of materials, parts, supplies, and equipment that assist in the manufacturing and assembly of JELD-WEN products including, but not limited to, Windows, Exterior Doors, Interior Doors, Patio Doors, and all other JELD-WEN related building products.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders and invoices
• Maintains records of received goods (rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary) and shipped goods
• Pulls and fills orders, lifts light and heavy items from receiving, shipping and other appropriate areas of the facility
• Moves materials, including scrap materials and equipment within the facility to the various assembly, production and disposal areas using powered industrial equipment
• Assists in the assembly of the product itself;
  Labels finished products to match appropriate paperwork prior to shipment
• Assists the Material Handler II and III positions and other personnel as directed by management to achieve the goals and objectives of JELD-WEN
• Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations per plant policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines
• Reports unsafe conditions to appropriate supervision
• Performs other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

• Ability to read and interpret scales and units of measurement
• Basic computer knowledge
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately
• Ability to multiply, divide, add and subtract
• Ability to use hand and power tools and powered industrial equipment to move items throughout the facility
• Ability to prepare and maintain records of merchandise received and shipped
• Ability to perform Entry Level, repetitive type functions associated with handling the JELD-WEN product line
• Ability to read and comprehend basic verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work in a manufacturing and fast paced environment
• Reliable transportation, punctual and dependable

• Must be able to work overtime as needed

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED
