Our client is looking for a Production Supervisor in Sterling Heights, MI!

This contract opportunity (possible extension or direct hire for the right candidate) offers a starting pay rate range of $31.00 to $33.64/hour (benefits are available).

Position is 100% onsite.

Only candidates that are available to work ANY shift will be considered for this opportunity.

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing small work teams in a fast-paced, high volume, unionized, manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring team safety; building teams and training / allocating manpower; driving and implementing continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality and reach throughput and cost targets; and ensuring team morale.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the production plan is met, analyzes issues with other roles, drives and implements continuous improvement activities and sustainability of solutions inside the Zone.
  • A Zone may consist of multiple production lines and up to approximately 30 employees, requiring ownership of all safety, quality, and throughput objectives within that area.
  • Ensure a safe workplace, leads the Team to improve Safety in the area and enforces the use of mandated Safety tools and procedures.
  • Safety is a critical focus area within the body shop environment.
  • Understand losses during the Shift, use the Stellantis Industrial Systems tools and methodology to improve Zone performances.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of manufacturing process flow, bottlenecks, alarms, fault conditions, and escalation procedures to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
  • Proactively analyze quality KPIs related to the Zone, prioritizes quality issues and properly guides Team Leaders.
  • Understanding basic welding principles, including identifying good versus bad welds, is highly beneficial.
  • Ensure the right allocation of the people on the line, manages absenteeism, trains and builds teams.
  • Possess knowledge of the broader manufacturing organization and have the ability to mobilize support groups and resources to lead and assist in problem‑solving activities.
  • Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of manufacturing equipment, conveyors, automation systems, and maintenance concepts will be highly valued.
  • Actively participate and lead kaizen project activities centered on Safety, Cost, Quality, and Throughput improvements and waste reduction opportunities identified through cost deployment.
  • Drive a sense of urgency within the operation and proactively respond to production interruptions to ensure output targets are achieved.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  • Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from hourly represented employees to Senior Leadership as required
  • Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
  • Ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to production needs
  • Ability to spend extended periods on the production floor, including walking throughout the facility and climbing stairs as required
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • 2 or more years’ experience in supervision in a high-volume environment
  • Experience in welding (resistance spot welding) and robotic applications
  • Experience with robotics controls, automation systems, conveyors, or related manufacturing technologies
  • Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
  • Previous experience working in a union environment
  • Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Suite software programs
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing, body shop operations, or stamping environments preferred
  • Understanding of manufacturing process flow, bottleneck management, downtime reduction, and production recovery activities
  • Candidates with maintenance-related experience, mechanical aptitude, or exposure to highly automated manufacturing operations are strongly encouraged to apply
