Mattison Reciprocating Surface Grinder Operator We are expanding our precision grinding capabilities and seeking a highly skilled Mattison Surface Grinder Operator with experience on large reciprocating table grinders. The ideal candidate is a seasoned machinist with strong knowledge of wheel technology, heat management, and precision flat grinding.
Key Duties
- Set up and operate Mattison reciprocating grinders
- Grind tool steel, alloy steel, and die blocks to tight tolerances
- Perform wheel selection, dressing, and machine adjustments
- Rig, position, and secure heavy work pieces
- Verify flatness, parallelism, and finish using precision instruments
- Maintain grinder performance and coolant systems
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years Mattison grinding experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain high quality standards
- Background in tool & die, mold bases, or heavy grinding strongly preferred
