We are seeking an experienced Machining Launch Tooling Engineer to support the successful launch and long-term performance of new machining lines within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This individual will work closely with corporate launch teams, plant operations, equipment suppliers, and quality teams to ensure machining processes, tooling systems, and production metrics meet company objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.

This is a highly visible, hands-on role requiring strong machining, tooling, process improvement, and launch experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys solving complex production challenges.

• Support machining processes through tooling development, validation, and optimization.
• Lead tooling readiness activities for new machining line launches.
• Support implementation and maintenance of GTSV tool tracking systems.
• Identify tool-dominant features and establish robust process controls.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Complete and support all PPAP documentation and launch quality requirements.
• Analyze manufacturing processes and implement engineering solutions to improve capability and efficiency.
• Develop corrective action plans, investigate process issues, and verify effectiveness of solutions.
• Lead process audits to ensure compliance with Powertrain and manufacturing standards.
• Develop process documentation, work instructions, and quality procedures.
• Deliver capable machining processes and tooling solutions for gear machining operations.
• Lead variability reduction, lean manufacturing, and waste elimination initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, environmental, and safety requirements.
• Support ISO 14001 compliance, internal audits, and environmental initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve launch milestones.

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred

• Minimum 5 years of experience in machining, tooling, manufacturing engineering, or related manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting machining operations, tooling development, and production launches.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers, production teams, and engineering organizations.

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
• Experience with gear machining operations and gear blade grinding.
• Programming and operation of tool presetters (Royal, Zoller, or similar systems).
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
• Experience with:
• PFMEA/FMEA
• PPAP
• DOE (Design of Experiments)
• Statistical process control methodologies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
