GENERAL SUMMARY
Administers intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthetics to render persons insensible to pain during surgical procedures, obstetrical deliveries, or other medical and dental procedures. Potentially administers anesthesia to all ages and A.S.A. classes of patients, including geriatrics and pediatrics. Provides airway management services as needed throughout the hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS- Minimum of 2 years experience as a CRNA and willing to travel to other ambulatory sites when necessary.
- At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in hospital setting or other ambulatory surgery setting.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and an accredited school of anesthesia.
- Master’s degree required.
- State of Michigan RN License, State Specialty Certification, CRNA Certification, ALS Certification, BLS Certification.
- Willingness to rotate to other ambulatory surgery sites.
- Strong communication, teamwork, initiative, and willingness to learn.
- Commitment to customer service expectations as outlined in Henry Ford Health Customer Service Policy.
- Provides leadership in professional practice setting.
- Supports and contributes to professional development of peers and colleagues.
- Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.
- Identifies patient problems and collaborates with anesthesia/surgeon/perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions.
- Interacts with members of health care team to plan and coordinate perioperative care.
- Promotes a healthy work environment through professional communication standards and positive problem resolution.
- Conducts appropriate pre‑anesthetic assessments and documents findings.
- Collaborates with anesthesiologist to determine the appropriate anesthetic plan and manages all aspects of anesthesia care.
- Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.
- Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non‑emergent, and resuscitation situations throughout the hospital.
- Anticipates and exceeds patients’ expectations and identifies service improvement ideas.
- Demonstrates, supports, and assumes personal accountability for consistently upholding team standards and adherence to Henry Ford Health policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Engages in professional development, continuous learning, and maintains technology proficiency.
- Provides education for staff, colleagues, patients, and families.
- Precepts new staff and students as requested and documents individualized patient and family education.
- Integrates research findings into practice.
- Participates in community activities and professional organizations.
- Represents Henry Ford Health by promoting an atmosphere of care, concern, pride, and respect to internal and external customers.
- Aware of financial implications of actions and supports the unit financially by using resources cost‑effectively.
Frequent walking, bending, lifting may be required to perform duties. Work is generally in an operating room environment, but can be in radiology, ICU, ER, or wherever nurse anesthesia services are required in the hospital. Working conditions are variable with exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards. Driving may be required, dependent on specialty.
