This is a hands‑on role that primarily involves setting up and performing tests, as part of either durability or safety teams.
Technicians work on projects from start to finish which involves:- Interpreting technical specifications
- Accurately preparing and setting up test articles and fixtures/vehicles (requires kneeling and heavy lifting)
- Evaluating the performance of test articles using measurements and sensors
- Documenting detailed test procedures
- Communicating with supervisors and customers in a clear and timely manner
- Organizing and prioritizing tasks to ensure all deadlines are met
- Extended hours may be required due to test schedules
- Monitoring and maintaining test equipment
- Collaborating with other facilities to maintain consistent operating practices and introduce improvements throughout the company
This is an entry‑level position. Successful applicants will be able to learn quickly and sometimes work independently. This is a fast‑paced environment that requires multi‑tasking and communication. All the tasks are hands‑on and require a basic level of mechanical skills.
Required Qualifications- High attention to detail
- Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems independently
- Experience with basic hand and power tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- General computer skills (Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word)
- General understanding of automotive parts and mechanics
- Welding experience
- Hi‑lo experience
- Experience with basic fabrication tools (band saw, drill press, etc.)
- General understanding of fasteners (metric/standard)
Offshift - The main responsibility of our off shift is to monitor the tests that are ongoing; they will do inspections and log their observations and will need to communicate with the 1st shift staff if there are any issues as well as the personnel on the next shift. In some cases, they may be asked to support a setup or something minor, but they will be given direction.
Typically, we have them train on 1st shift for several months before they move to their normal shift.
