About Us
The Michigan Milk Producers Association is a dairy farmer‑owned cooperative and dairy processor. Founded in 1916, the MMPA serves dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin. MMPA maintains a strong presence within the dairy industry with strategic business relationships through a variety of channels, including processing shelf‑stable and value‑added dairy products. MMPA has five member‑owned processing plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, including Superior Dairy and the Middlebury Cheese Company.
Products made at MMPA’s plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultra filtered milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream, and condensed skim milk.

- Work with the plant leadership team to ensure all quality programs and systems are implemented.
- Manage the plant's internal auditing program by conducting GMP and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas; ensure Food Safety and Quality Systems meet or exceed internal, second‑party, and third‑party audit requirements.
- Complete audit reports and track and trend data.
- Lead the Internal Quality Management Review process with the plant's staff.
- Conduct monthly quality management system reviews with the plant leadership team.
- Drive the plant's quality continuous‑improvement efforts for quality KPIs (e.g., consumer complaint reduction, hold reduction).
- Maintain appropriate documentation to support compliance with policies and procedures.
- Act as SQF Coordinator for the Ovid Plant.
- Own the plant's Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA) process and track all plant root‑cause failure analyses.
- Define best lab practices and provide guidance and adherence to quality policies.
- Manage the plant laboratory, including analysis and interpretation of results and documentation.
- Develop Ovid Plant procedures to comply with MMPA’s Quality Management System and associated policies.
- Develop, adapt, and improve quality programs and procedures for overall production activities of the plant, including application of Quality Procedure changes.
- Manage Food Safety Documents, SSOPs, HACCP plans, and other regulatory‑related documentation.
- Manage quality training for all plant personnel.
- Ensure standard work through development of work documentation and training to standards.
- Participate in problem solving and serve as a technical resource for quality initiatives.
- Directly manage laboratory staff.
- Connect and influence local plant management and plant workforce.
- Communicate ideas and technical information in an easily understandable way.
- Assess risk and communicate it in a timely manner.
- Act as a change agent and champion of cultural change. Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS Degree in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Food Science required.
- Preferred prior work experience.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Food Safety and Regulatory requirements.
- HACCP certification preferred.
- SQF Practitioner preferred.
