Coplas is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Quality Technician.

Position

Summary

The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting daily quality operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position ensures compliance with customer, internal, and industry quality standards while supporting production and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of PPAP documentation, PFMEA, Control Plans, Gage R&R, inspection methods, and problem-solving methodologies. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, accountability, urgency, and a strong presence on the production floor to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Documentation

  • Develop, review, and maintain:
    • PPAP documentation packages
    • PFMEAs
    • Control Plans
    • Work Instructions
    • Layered Process Audits
    • Internal audit documentation
  • Ensure all quality documentation is accurate, current, and completed within required timelines
  • Support customer and supplier quality requirements
  • Participate in corrective action activities using:
    • 5 Why Analysis
    • A3 Problem Solving
    • Root Cause Analysis
  • Assist with containment and disposition of non-conforming material
PPAP & Customer Requirements
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of AIAG Core Tools, including:
    • PPAP
    • APQP
    • PFMEA
    • MSA
    • SPC
  • Prepare and submit PPAPs in accordance with customer requirements and deadlines
  • Verify dimensional, material, and appearance requirements prior to submission
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, and customers during PPAP approval activities
  • Support launch activities and engineering changes
Production Floor Support
  • Maintain an active daily presence on the production floor
  • Monitor production processes for compliance with Control Plans and quality standards
  • Verify operators are following approved work instructions and inspection requirements
  • Support troubleshooting of quality concerns at press and assembly operations
  • Utilize fixtures, clamps, gauges, and inspection equipment correctly and effectively
Measurement & Inspection
  • Perform:
    • Layered audits
    • Gage R&R studies
    • Attribute and variable studies
  • Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and properly used
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications
Task Management & Accountability
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects within established timelines
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Utilize downtime productively by:
    • Completing audits
    • Updating documentation
    • Supporting continuous improvement activities
    • Performing floor audits and inspections
  • Demonstrate urgency and ownership in resolving quality concerns
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent work experience at minimum
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in automotive or plastic injection molding quality
  • Experience with customer portals and OEM requirements preferred
  • Internal Auditor certification preferred
  • Experience leading corrective actions and customer containment activities preferred
  • Strong PPAP experience required
  • Working knowledge of:
    • PFMEA
    • Control Plans
    • SPC
    • MSA
    • Gage R&R
    • APQP
  • Experience performing internal audits and supporting IATF 16949 systems
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Supervision experience an asset
  • Effective communication skills, verbal, and written
  • Computer skills data analysis
