Salary Range: $70,000 – $90,000 Base Salary (Negotiable DOE) + Uncapped Commission + Performance Bonus
Job Summary:MS Companies is seeking a motivated and relationship‑driven Business Development Manager to help expand our presence across the Detroit market and surrounding Michigan region. Headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, MS Companies is a leading provider of workforce and quality solutions supporting Fortune 1000 clients across automotive, manufacturing, logistics, aerospace, and industrial sectors. In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business growth, developing strategic client relationships, and managing the full sales cycle from prospecting and opportunity identification through proposal development, closing, post‑sale engagement, and continued account penetration.
The ideal candidate is a self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys building long‑term partnerships, and is comfortable engaging manufacturing and operational decision makers throughout the region. This role is remote / hybrid within the Detroit market and requires regular regional travel for client meetings, facility visits, networking events, and business development activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 3+ years of B2B sales, business development, or account development experience
- Proven experience managing the full sales cycle, including prospecting, proposal development, negotiation, closing, and post‑sale relationship management
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a strong sales pipeline
- Experience using CRM systems such as Salesforce or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving capabilities
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
Qualifications:
- Experience selling into automotive, manufacturing, logistics, aerospace, industrial, or related markets
- Prior experience selling workforce solutions, staffing services, consulting services, or operational support solutions
- Experience calling on decision makers such as plant managers, operations managers, quality managers, HR leaders, and executive stakeholders
- Familiarity with sales outreach tools such as Linked In Sales Navigator, Apollo, Pardot, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated success meeting or exceeding sales quotas and revenue goals
- Strong networking ability within regional manufacturing and industrial communities
- Experience representing an organization at trade shows, industry events, networking functions, or association meetings
- Develop and execute a regional business development strategy aligned with company revenue goals
- Identify, prospect, and cultivate relationships with new and existing clients throughout the Detroit / Sterling Heights market
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial outreach through closing and ongoing account development
- Maintain a strong pipeline and accurate sales forecasting within Salesforce CRM
- Conduct client meetings, presentations, discovery calls, and on-site facility visits
- Collaborate with recruiting, operations, finance, and leadership teams to ensure successful client delivery and customer satisfaction
- Expand service penetration within existing accounts through continued relationship management and consultative follow‑up
- Represent MS Companies at industry events, networking functions, trade shows, and regional business development opportunities
- Track sales activity, manage account notes, and provide updates regarding pipeline performance and opportunities
- Stay informed on local market trends, manufacturing activity, and workforce challenges throughout the region
- Sitting, standing, walking, and computer‑based work for extended periods
- Frequent regional travel for client meetings, prospect visits, networking events, and facility tours
- Occasional visits to manufacturing or industrial environments, which may require standard PPE such as safety glasses or steel‑toe footwear
