Role Description

The HVAC Controls Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Sterling Heights, MI. This position is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing HVAC control systems, including building automation and DDC controls, in commercial and institutional facilities. Day-to-day tasks include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing system performance issues, completing repairs, and verifying proper operation of control sequences. The technician will interact with customers and facility teams, document service activities, and provide clear communication regarding findings, recommendations, and follow‑up work.

The role also involves collaborating with project and support teams, following safety and regulatory requirements, and helping ensure high levels of system reliability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC controls, building automation systems, and related mechanical/electrical components.
  • Experience with maintenance & repair and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment and control systems.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally on‑site.
  • EPA certification (or ability to obtain) for handling refrigerants and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Working knowledge of DDC controls, BMS integration, and basic networking for control systems is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control drawings and documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to customer sites as needed.
  • Prior experience as an HVAC technician, building controls technician, or similar role; vocational training or technical certification in HVAC, controls, or electrical fields preferred.
  • Ability to work safely, independently, and collaboratively, including occasional overtime or after‑hours support when required.
