Hardware/Software Integration and Test Engineer
Location:
Sterling Heights, MI – Must Be Clearable.
Contract:
12-month long, W2 hourly contract only, no 1099, no third parties, no C2C. Requires ship and residency.
Pay: $35 to $42 per hour (DOE). Must be clearable.
Responsibilities- Perform hands‑on systems integration and testing of complex electronic and electro‑mechanical systems in both software labs and on tactical military hardware and vehicles.
- Create, plan, and perform software analysis, design, development, coding, documentation, integration, testing, and product assurance tasks.
- Contribute to the development of engineering design models and develop programs to enhance, implement, and support project/system functionality for the assigned technical effort.
- Participate in software requirements, design, and code reviews.
- Develop and execute test cases, test scripts, test plans, and test scenarios for all applicable requirements for new software releases in the software lab environment and on tactical vehicles.
- Ensure technical outcomes are consistent with established engineering principles and practices and that all technical, system, performance, and quality requirements are met.
- Perform non‑routine fault isolation, diagnosis, and repair of test and tactical systems.
- Perform complex technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results using specialized equipment and/or computer programs.
- Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements.
- Programming experience in one of the following: C, C#, C++, Python.
- Understanding and application of modern software development and systems engineering practices, design principles, techniques, and technologies.
- Working knowledge of the Software Life Cycle.
- Self‑motivated, team player with strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Experience/knowledge of basic circuitry and electrical engineering principles.
- Experience with software development environments, version control, and issue tracking tools.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with real‑time embedded operating systems.
- Experience with multiple protocols: J1939, CAN, Ethernet, Serial.
- Experience with hands‑on troubleshooting using test equipment, CAN‑bus analysis tools, Ethernet network analysis tools, data acquisition systems.
