About the RoleOur client is seeking an Embedded Linux RTOS Software Developer to support the integration of advanced vehicle electronic systems. This role focuses on developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining embedded software for military vehicle platforms while supporting software deployment, system security, and real-time operating system development.
Responsibilities- Develop, document, and maintain software architectures, requirements, interfaces, algorithms, and designs.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve embedded software applications.
- Lead software integration and verification activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Develop software verification plans, test procedures, and test environments.
- Execute software testing and document results to ensure system requirements are met.
- Load software images and deploy official software releases to laboratory environments and military vehicles.
- Build and configure embedded operating systems including Linux and VxWorks.
- Develop Linux system software, including device drivers and hardware enablement.
- Integrate software into automated build environments.
- Optimize system performance and complex software pipelines.
- Support embedded cybersecurity using cryptography, secure boot, and trusted architectures.
- Troubleshoot low-level hardware and software integration issues.
- Manage project priorities, schedules, and technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout development and integration activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5-7 years of relevant embedded software development experience.
- Strong experience developing software in C and C++.
- Experience with the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, design, testing, integration, and deployment.
- Strong knowledge of embedded Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS), including VxWorks.
- Experience with Linux system programming, device drivers, bootloaders, memory maps, and hardware bring-up.
- Experience with Yocto, Buildroot, or similar Linux image build systems.
- Experience using Git, Eclipse, GCC, GDB, DOORS, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Qt, and related development tools.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD practices.
- Experience with asynchronous programming, multithreading, interrupts, and real-time systems.
- Familiarity with Type I and Type II hypervisors is a plus.
- Knowledge of embedded cybersecurity concepts including SELinux, verified boot, trusted execution environments, encryption, digital signatures, and NIST post-quantum cryptography is preferred.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship may be required.
- Ability to pass the Anthropometric Size Requirement (ASR) for working in and around military vehicles.
