Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with experience and a passion for real-time embedded software development. This position will provide technical leadership for software efforts supporting munitions programs and will be responsible for the overall software execution of assigned contracts or work directives.
- Lead software engineering activities, including estimating, planning, requirements analysis, architecture, design, implementation, unit testing, hardware/software integration, simulated flyout testing, and range testing.
- Design and develop real-time embedded software using C++.
- Monitor technical, cost, and schedule performance, taking corrective action when necessary.
- Plan software project schedules and builds in support of product-development timelines.
- Lead a small team of software developers and provide clear work direction.
- Support software verification planning, test-environment design, and the development, execution, debugging, and review of verification test scripts and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Software Quality Assurance and Software Configuration Management requirements.
- Coordinate with Systems, Safety, Cybersecurity, Software Architecture, and other engineering disciplines.
- Evaluate software requirements for consistency with system-level requirements, customer requirements, statements of work, and applicable contractual documents.
- Review software architecture and designs to ensure technical solutions meet customer needs and established requirements.
- Oversee assigned control accounts or work packages, including task management, progress reporting, corrective actions, and Estimate at Completion reporting.
- Support Earned Value Management System reporting requirements.
- Plan and support formal software milestone reviews with U.S. Government customer representatives, including Software Requirements Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews, Critical Design Reviews, and Test Readiness Reviews.
- Identify and communicate emerging risks, issues, and opportunities to project and functional leadership.
- Prepare and present project metrics and technical status during milestone reviews, technical interchange meetings, customer meetings, and internal reviews.
- Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project obligations, technical objectives, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure software activities are completed with the appropriate process discipline and engineering rigor.
- Support the timely delivery of high-quality contractual work products.
- Lead collaborative problem-solving efforts involving relevant technical stakeholders.
- Resolve conflicts between subsystems and engineering disciplines to support system performance, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
- At least four years of experience in real-time embedded software development or software testing. Candidates with a master’s degree must have at least two years of relevant experience.
- Strong object-oriented design and embedded C++ development experience.
- Experience with real-time operating systems or bare-metal real-time application development.
- Experience leading a small team of software developers.
- Working knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems and Control Account Manager or Work Package Manager responsibilities.
- Practical knowledge of software engineering and development processes.
- Familiarity with Ethernet communications.
- Current software design and development experience.
- Strong collaboration, presentation, and meeting-facilitation skills.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Experience with software-management and engineering-development processes.
- Familiarity with Capability Maturity Model Integration.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, including the Risk Management Framework and the process for obtaining or maintaining an Authority to Operate.
- Cybersecurity certification.
- Weapon-system or combat-vehicle subject-matter expertise.

Pay Range: $58.00- $63.00per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
