Priority Waste operates from multiple facilities, including two transfer stations, and serves municipal solid‑waste and construction & demolition customers with a yellow fleet of residential, roll‑off, and front‑load trucks and containers. Our focus is on customer experience.
Purpose
As a Residential Truck Driver, you will safely operate a garbage truck and ancillary equipment on an assigned route to haul solid waste and recycling debris from customers.
Duties and Responsibilities- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of the truck
- Operate the truck in accordance with OSHA, DOT, and all applicable local, municipal, state, and federal laws
- Mount and dismount a heavy‑duty truck many times each day
- Complete assigned residential route daily, leaving customer locations free of debris
- Communicate professionally with customers as needed
- Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of any accidents, injuries, property damage, or other incidents
- Notifies Route Manager/Dispatch of service interruptions such as closed lots, blocked containers, or safety hazards
- Identify and report containers needing repair or replacement
- Attend training programs, briefings, and meetings as required
- Communicate customer requests to Route Manager/Dispatch
- Immediately report mechanical problems to Mechanic and Supervisor
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle
- Maintain a professional appearance
- Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL
- 1‑year experience operating a residential waste truck preferred
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must pass a criminal background check, physical, and DOT drug screen
- Must have a safe driving record, including no avoidable accidents in the past five years
- Must communicate professionally with customers, dispatch, and internal services
- Must be able to sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, balance, hear, talk, and smell
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- May be required to work in emergency situations
