Math Instructional Specialist
Northeastern Junior College's Monahan Learning Center is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to serve as a Math Instructional Specialist.
The Instructional Specialist provides individualized and small-group math tutoring for students enrolled in a variety of math courses, including general education and Career and Technical Education (CTE) math classes such as Career Math, College Algebra, General Statistics, Math for Liberal Arts, and Calculus. There would be opportunity to tutor other courses depending on the Instructional Specialist's expertise. This position assists students in developing math comprehension and effective study skills while helping to build confidence and independent learning.
This position is partially funded by the TRIO Student Support Services grant serving first generation, low-income or disabled students, in addition to working with non-TRIO students. The instructional specialist creates a positive and active learning environment for students.

What Your
Key Responsibilities Will Be:
* Tutor students with math assignments in all majors, individually and in small groups, in the Monahan Learning Center (MLC). Tutor other courses as appropriate.
* Work with faculty to assess tutoring needs, seek appropriate materials and coordinate efforts in tutoring with class requirements. Attend classes as needed.
* Assist in the supervision of the MLC Student Learning Assistants in their role as peer tutors in the MLC.
* Track Time and Effort to maintain TRIO grant compliance.
* Investigate new materials and methods in content areas.
* Assist in the selection of, provision of services to, and tracking of SSS students.
* Assist in the keeping of accurate records of all student contacts.
* Perform other associated duties as assigned by the Director of the MLC.
What You Will Need:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, or a related field with a strong mathematical background
* Tutoring, teaching or training experience
* Knowledge and experience with computers, specifically MS Office
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
What We Can
Offer:
This is a 163-day/1304, part-time professional appointment; during the fall and spring semesters work is approximately 40 hours/week and no scheduled days during the summer semester. The annual salary ranges from $38,000 to $42,000, depending on qualifications and experience. This FLSA-exempt position will begin in August 2026.
